ANNUAL SWIFT SYMPOSIUM

The ninth Dublin international symposium on Jonathan Swift takes place at the Deanery on Saturday 16 October starting at 2pm.

The main theme this year will be 290th anniversary of the publication of The Universal Use of Irish Manufacture. Prior registration will be required as numbers are limited. To register, please download the registration  form here and forward to Jennifer Hickey at the cathedral as soon as possible.

Speakers will include Renee Prendergast, Queen's University, Belfast - "Swift's Critique of the Economic Way of Thinking"; Melinda Rabb, Brown University - "Swift and Sinews, Blood, and Treasure of War"; Clement Hawes, University of Michigan - "Jonathan Swift and the Philosopher's Stone; Salim Rashid, University of Illinois - "Swift and the Irish School of Development Economics".

 

ANNUAL SWIFT COMMEMORATION SERVICE

On Sunday 17 October at 15.15, the annual commemoration service of Jonathan Swift will take place in the Cathedral at which the address will be given by Dr Don Thornhill, Former Chairman of the Higher Education Authority.  All are welcome to attend.
