ANNUAL SWIFT SYMPOSIUM

The eighth Dublin international symposium on Jonathan Swift takes place at the Deanery on Saturday 17 October starting at 2pm.

The main theme this year will be 280th anniversary of the publication of A Modest Proposal. Prior registration will be required as numbers are limited. To register, please download the registration  form here and forward to Mark Bowyer at the cathddral as soon as possible.

Speakers will include Ian Higgins (Australian National University), Stephanie Nelson (Boston University), Deana Rankin (Royal Holloway, University of London), Ian Campbell Ross (Trinity College Dublin) and James Ward ( University of Ulster).

 

ANNUAL SWIFT COMMEMORATION SERVICE

On Sunday 18 October at 15.15, the annual commemoration service of Jonathan Swift will take place in the cathedral at which the address will be given by Andrew Carpenter, emeritus professor of English at UCD. Professor Carpenter's theme will be Swift on the art of getting older. All are welcome to attend.
