Many people have an image of cathedrals as quiet, secluded places where the pace of life is slow. Whilst the Cathedral itself is a haven of peace and a place for reflection and prayer, the life of the Cathedral is actually very busy.
Each year we welcome over half a million pilgrims and visitors who visit us for a variety of reasons. To meet the needs of these people, we have a staff of 50 staff people that includes clergy, administrative staff and professional musicians. In addition, a large number of volunteers offer their time and skills to the Cathedral, as welcomers and guides, chaplains, flower arrangers, bellringers and servers. Without them the Cathedral could not offer the quality of welcome and care that we do. Explore our community through the links to the left.
