Heritage Week Tours: Belfry Experience

Explore the heart of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin through this exclusive tour of the tower and Bell Ringing Room. Facilitated by some of our very own bell ringers, get a behind-the-scenes look at how this team of dedicated volunteers keeps the centuries-old tradition of change ringing alive and flourishing.

Through the 45 minute long tour, you’ll explore the Cathedral’s historic (and normally not publicly accessible) Minot Tower, watch a demonstration of our peal of 15 bells in action, and even ring one of the bells yourself!

To ensure an intimate and immersive experience, each tour is limited to just 15 people. Please note that participants must be 12 years old or older and in good physical condition, as the tour involves climbing the narrow spiral staircase of the ancient Minot Tower. If you have a fear of heights or tight spaces, we recommend considering other tours of the Cathedral.

These tours will be running on a compact schedule. Please make sure to arrive at the Cathedral at least 15 minutes before the tour start time. Note there could be long queues at the Cathedral entrances during the summer, so please plan accordingly.
