Family Workshop – Medieval Calligraphy (31/05/25)

Get inspired by the beauty of medieval manuscripts and explore the art of Gothic calligraphy with your family.

In this creative workshop, you’ll discover the richly decorated pages once crafted by monks and nuns in convents and monasteries.

Children will receive a small, folded booklet to fill with their own short stories or favorite sentences, using Gothic-style calligraphy. They’ll learn how to write with real quills and ink—just like in the Middle Ages—and get a short introduction to how books were made and decorated in the past.

After writing their piece, they’ll decorate their booklet with colorful borders and designs, inspired by illuminated manuscripts.

This activity is suitable for children aged 6 and up, who must be accompanied by an adult.
