The Christian life has long been regarded as a journey. From birth to death, from darkness to light, from sin to salvation, our lives are characterised by journeying and movement. The Stations of the Cross meet our human need always to be ‘on the move’. They depict Jesus making his way to the Cross through the streets of Jerusalem, a journey filled with sorrow and agony which ends with Jesus opening wide his arms on the Cross to draw us into his loving embrace. In the Cathedral, the Stations are presented in their traditional sequence with the assistance of an image on screen which is illustrated by organ music. They draw us along in step with our life’s journey, one we readily understand through the sorrows and joys that make up our lives. Come along to journey with us and to find yourself drawn along with us in a literally moving devotion of preparation for the Easter victory of Jesus.
‘We adore you, O Christ and we bless you.
Because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world.’
