Choir Bio
The choir representing Farragut High School on their 2025 Ireland Tour is comprised of students from the Farragut High School Choral Program’s three advanced ensembles; 9th Grade Select, Advanced Mixed Choir, and Advanced Women’s Choir. Students in these choirs regularly participate in regional honor choirs, Tennessee All-State chorus, and Governor’s School for the Arts. The Farragut High School Choral Program has a proud history of musical excellence, consistently earning sweepstakes in regional and state performance assessments, placing in national competitions, and being selected as performing choirs for the 2023 and 2025 Tennessee Music Educator Association Professional Development Conferences. Farragut High School is located in the Town of Farragut west of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Mitchell Moore Bio
Mitchell Moore is in his fifth year at Farragut High School, where he is Head Director of the Choral Program and Vocal Director for the annual musical. He also serves as the Middle and High School Choral Area Professional Learning Specialist for Knox County Schools. Previously, Mitchell taught for three years at Howard High School in Macon, GA. Ensembles under his direction consistently earn superior ratings at regional and state performance assessments, and have performed at the Tennessee State Capitol, Carnegie Hall, and the 2023 and 2025 TnMEA Professional Development Conference. He has been privileged to serve as a clinician for a number of organizations, including serving as the Director for the 2025 Knox County Elementary Honor Choir. He was named the 2023-2024 Rotary Club of Knoxville Teacher of the Year and a 2024-2025 Farragut High School Teacher of the Year. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Georgia College & State University (2015) and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (2020).
Kirstine Buchanan Bio
Kirstine Buchanan currently serves as one of the choir directors at Farragut High School in Knoxville, TN. This year, Kirstine will teach Ensemble, Musical Theatre, Beginning Women’s, Advanced Mixed and 9th Grade Select choirs. Kirstine previously taught general music.
Together with colleagues in the Knoxville area, Kirstine founded and serves as Executive Director and a conductor of Summit Choral Collective, a nonprofit intergenerational community chorus organization.
Kirstine graduated in May 2023 with a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting from Mercer University. During her time at Mercer, she studied choral conducting with Dr. Stanley Roberts and served as his graduate assistant. As the graduate assistant conductor, she frequently conducted the Mercer Singers, Women’s Chamber Choir, and the Middle Georgia Choral Society. From 2022-2023, Kirstine also led the inaugural group of Townsend School of Music Ambassadors.
While in Macon, Kirstine conducted the FBCX Youth Choir as the First Baptist Church of Christ Johnson Fellow. She also served as Vocal Coach for the Senior High Choral Program at the Academy of Classical Education in Macon, GA.
Kirstine graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2020, with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music Education.
During her UT years, she was President of UT’s CNAfMe chapter, state Public Relations Representative and East Tennessee Regional President for Tennessee CNAfME, and a TMEA representative to the 2017 NAfME Collegiate Advocacy Summit in Washington D.C. Kirstine also served as a student ambassador for the UT school of music. During her senior year, she was the director of UT’s reVOLution, the women’s contemporary a cappella group. She was the 2020 School of Music’s Outstanding Graduate Senior in Music Education and a recipient of the Extraordinary Professional Promise citation from the UT College of Arts and Sciences. She is a member of NAfME, ACDA, and Pi Kappa Lambda.
