Step into the enchanting Lady Chapel—Dublin’s medieval jewel nestled within St Patrick’s Cathedral—where centuries of history echo in every stone. Experience an unforgettable evening as The Gaudete Singers fill this sacred space with the soaring harmonies of Spanish Renaissance music, blending ancient beauty with musical brilliance.

Built in 1270, the Lady Chapel is one of the oldest surviving sections of St Patrick’s Cathedral. Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, it stands as a testament to centuries of faith, craftsmanship, and community.

Constructed behind the high altar, the chapel reflects Northern European cathedral traditions of its time, during the 13th and 14th centuries.

Major conservation projects were undertaken in the 19th century and again in 2013, and these have preserved historical authenticity for future generations.

The Chapel’s Stained Glass Windows restored 19th-century depict biblical stories and commemorate notable figures, such as Annie Lee Plunkett. The 2013 restoration also involved meticulous cleaning and remounting of the windows, to preserve their beauty.

The many monuments & Tombs Include that of Archbishop Michael Tregury, who bequeathed the cathedral’s first organ. Many interments are beneath the chapel floor add to its rich history.

Look around and you may see some of the historic furniture within the chapel, including the chair used by King William III after the Battle of the Boyne.

The Chapel’s Stonework and notably its Gothic arches and ribbed vaults, restored in 2013, create a visually stunning and historically faithful environment.

Acoustically, the Chapel’s Gothic features ensure clarity and warmth for both spoken word and music, making it ideal for services and performances.
