The organ of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, all 4 manuals, 81 speaking stops & 4,000 or so pipes of it, is one of the largest instruments of its kind in Ireland though most of the 600,000 visitors who come through our doors each year would be blissfully unaware of its existence. Gifted by the Guinness family back in 1902 as part of the restoration of the Cathedral, it sits neatly high up to the north of the chancel with only a few pipes of the nave division visible from below. Once it’s in full flight (as you’d expect from a Father Willis design) it fills every nook and cranny of the Cathedral and has done so daily for over 125 years.
Cathedral Organist, David Leigh invites you to join him for a short series of recitals where he’ll be showcasing this magnificent instrument. Admission is free and you’ll be able to experience first hand the mighty King of Instruments.
