Children’s Sketching Competition – Draw the Cathedral!

  • Family events
  • Fri 24 Jul
  • 10:00 - 15:00 (drop-in)
  • Free

As part of our summer family programme and the Liberties Festival, children are invited to take part in a special drawing competition inspired by the beauty and history of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.

Young artists will be able to explore the Cathedral, choose their favourite view and create their own artwork using the materials provided at our creative station. From colourful stained-glass windows to impressive arches, there is inspiration around every corner.

The competition is open to two age groups:

5–7 years

8–12 years

Once completed, children can submit their artwork to take part in the competition.

A jury panel will select winning and highly commended drawings from each category, with art prizes for the winners. Selected entries will be featured in an online exhibition, so everyone can enjoy the children’s artworks.

This activity encourages children to look closely, explore creatively, and connect with one of Dublin’s most important historic buildings through art.

All drawing materials will be supplied.

How to participate:

Book your free ticket to access the Cathedral, then drop by the South Transept anytime between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM to take part in the contest. Children can collect art materials from our drawing station and create their artwork during the day.

Finished artworks, together with a parent/guardian consent form, can be submitted before 3:00pm.

Please note parents must remain with their children while visiting the Cathedral at all times.

We look forward to seeing the cathedral through your eyes!
