The Guinness Choir are going to ‘Sing Again’!
On Saturday 14th May 2022 in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin 8, at 7:30p.m. the Guinness Choir will perform their “Sing Again” Concert.
The Choir are so excited to be able to Sing Again and to be able to sing to a live audience! It was Taoiseach Micheál Martin who said, on 21 January 2022, when announcing the lifting of many restrictions imposed due to the Covid pandemic:
“We need to see each other again. We need to see each other smile. We need to sing again.” We couldn’t agree more!!
This will be their first concert in almost two and a half years, the last one being their ‘Christmas Concert’ concert way back in December 2019. They have called it Sing Again to encapsulate the relief and joy of being able to sing after such a long time.
They thought it would be appropriate to give themselves and their audience the opportunity to enjoy a range of music just to remind ourselves of the great breadth and depth of musical expression and of human emotion that is available to us all and has been so sadly missed.
They will be performing a lovely programme of classical and some modern choral pieces, bringing back to life the magnificent sounds of Bach, Bruckner, Fauré, Handel, Hayden, Mozart and Whitacre, and are especially delighted to perform the world premiere of ‘The Weaver’ composed for The Guinness Choir by Judith Ring. The programme will include special guests Niall O’Sullivan, trumpet; Catherine Redding, soprano and David Leigh, organ.
They are thrilled also to be the flagship event in the Culture Date with Dublin 8 Festival, which runs over the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th of May, all across the Liberties area. They are delighted to support this great local initiative. The Guinness Choir wishes to acknowledge the generous support for this concert of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sports and Media, and Dublin City Council.
The Choir hope this ‘Sing Again’ Concert will lift your spirits and set us all up for a joyful summer.
