HERITAGE WEEK CONCERTS: Peter & the Wolf

  • Admission Free
  • Registration required

Join us this Heritage Week for a series of early evening recitals given by members of the Cathedral’s Music Department.

Our last concert is a bit of a beast, or several in fact.

The concert includes a performance of Prokofiev’s much-loved Peter & the Wolf heard here in an arrangement for narrator and organ. In the original, Prokofiev used various instruments from the orchestra to represent the characters in this delightful tale including the strings for Peter (the hero), horns for the menacing (and hungry) wolf, flute for the bird, oboe for the (spoiler alert) ill-fated duck, and clarinet for the cat.

We’ve also music from Saint Saens’ much-loved Carnival of Animals, and a few more “recent” additions to the beastly repertoire including Henry Mancini’s iconic Pink Panther and music from Elton Jones/Hans Zimmer’s Lion King.  A perfect concert for the young and the young at heart.

Admission is free, but as seating is limited, pre-booking is advised.

[No ducks are actually harmed in the performance]

*This event is free, but booking is required; tickets will be available from Monday, 29th June*
