Jonathan Swift Festival: Gulliver’s Travels Gala Dinner

Step into the extraordinary imagination of Jonathan Swift for a spectacular evening of food, entertainment and storytelling inspired by the four worlds of Gulliver’s Travels.

For one night only, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral will be transformed for an elegant four-course gala dinner, with each course inspired by one of the four remarkable lands encountered during Gulliver’s voyages: Lilliput, Brobdingnag, Laputa and the land of the Houyhnhnms.

From the miniature world of Lilliput and the giants of Brobdingnag to the strange intellectual kingdom of Laputa and Gulliver’s final encounter with the rational Houyhnhnms, each stage of the dinner will take guests further into Swift’s extraordinary imagination. The menu will creatively interpret the character and themes of each world, making the meal itself part of the journey.

Throughout the evening, live entertainment, music and storytelling will bring elements of Gulliver’s adventures to life, while guests dine in the spectacular surroundings of the Cathedral where Swift served as Dean and where he is buried.

Expect much more than a traditional gala dinner. Gulliver’s Gala Dinner is designed as an immersive journey through the novel, combining fine dining with theatrical touches, surprises and moments inspired by Swift’s humour, satire and remarkable imagination.

Taking place during the 300th anniversary year of the publication of Gulliver’s Travels, this unique evening offers the opportunity to celebrate one of the world’s great literary works in the place most closely associated with its author.

Four courses. Four extraordinary worlds. One unforgettable journey through the imagination of Jonathan Swift.
