Choir School admissions

Many parents assume that their child has to be a musical genius to audition. In fact, what we are looking for is someone who enjoys singing, being part of a close-knit team, and who will commit themselves to a demanding yet immensely rewarding schedule.

Before becoming a chorister, your child will undergo a voice trial. This is a very simple exercise to determine vocal potential. We normally ask them to sing something easy, such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. This is followed by an informal chat with the parents.

Voice trials are open to boys and girls currently in Second Class. Although they would usually start in the Choir School in the September of their Third Class, it is possible to start at other times, depending on places available.

Auditions are available throughout the year, and we are always happy to meet prospective parents informally, especially if they would like guidance about their child’s potential for a choristership.

To apply, simply complete the expression of interest form below. We will contact you to arrange the audition.

“My six years in the Choir taught me focus, flair, and harmony. They instilled in me a love of music that is impossible to shake off.”

Eppie Caffrey (Chorister 2005–11)
