Sessions added to schools programme for 2017!

September 20, 2017  Posted in: News

Last academic year the Cathedral welcomed close to 5000 primary and secondary school students. They availed of Saint Patrick’s free education programme which allows Irish students (of any age) free entry into the building. Once in the building groups can also request a tour, talk or workshop from our education department. All free of charge!

In 2017/18 the education department has teamed up with some exciting partners to offer two new education sessions!

St Patrick Drama workshop

We have teamed up with the guys from Play it By Ear, a Christian drama company to bring you a session which includes a live interactive performance of St Patrick’s life. The session will run in block weeks starting on the 6th November. We can only accept two class groups at a time and these are sure to book up fast! The session is aimed at 1st-3rd classes.

Cathedral Music workshop

This time we have partnered with the Pipeworks Festival and the WOOFYT project. This session gives students an opportunity to learn about the musical life of the Cathedral and of course to have a go themselves.Groups will get to be a chorister for a day in our singing activities and then learn more about the Organ with the wonderful people from the Pipeworks Festival. Students play a fascinating mock up of an Organ called a WOOFYT (Wooden One Octave Organ For Young Technologists). The are very limited number of these sessions available to book so get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment! The session is aimed at anyone from 4th class up to TYs!

To get in touch simply email education@stpatrickscathedral.ie or phone 01-4539472!
