Gulliver’s Big Birthday Bash Singalong

2026 marks the 300^th anniversary of the publication of Gulliver’s Travels written by former Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Jonathan Swift.

To celebrate this, the Cathedral commissioned prizewinning Derry-born composer, Seán Doherty to compose a short piece for children’s voices accompanied by the mighty Willis Organ that lives high up in the north side of the chancel, all 4,000+ pipes of it.

We are looking for children in 2nd – 6th class to come and join us for the big premiere performance.

There will be a singing workshop on the big day from 4.30pm onwards led by the composer with assistance from members of the Cathedral’s fabulous music team. Having learnt the new piece, the children then be ready to perform it as the first part of a special (short) birthday concert at 6.30pm which will be open to the public.

We’ll also through in a few other activities to give those young voices a break, and yes there will probably be cake!
